Project Overview

Northern Transportables was engaged to design and construct classrooms across several locations in the Northern Territory, delivering a turnkey solution of exceptionally high quality that marked a significant advancement from traditional demountable classrooms.

Project locations included Ngukurr School, Gapuwiyak School, Bakewell Primary School, Girraween Primary School, Larrapinta Primary School, Rockhampton Downs Primary School, Zuccoli Primary School, Humpty Doo Primary School and Darwin Middle School.

The Location

The classrooms were spread across several locations in the Northern Territory, a number of them remote.

Each project presented unique challenges that our team skilfully managed, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery without disrupting daily school operations.

The Solution

Our comprehensive approach began with relocating classrooms between various schools and undertaking detailed design work. We coordinated multiple builds and relocations simultaneously, storing the classrooms in our yard for a period to streamline the project.

The classrooms were manufactured at our East Arm facility ready for dispatch, and local authority approvals were secured for delivery and installation. Detailed coordination with stakeholders was crucial throughout the process.

We transported the buildings to remote locations and prepared civil works to receive them. Installation was carefully managed, including the addition of disabled ramps and connection pathways, and all necessary service connections were made before occupancy approvals were obtained.
