Custom Ship Loader Control Room
Project Overview
This project involved the design, construction and supply of a new ship loader control room for South 32 on the Groote Eylandt Wharf, replacing the facility damaged during Cyclone Megan in 2024.
The highly specialised building is integral to port operations, housing an operator’s console equipped with advanced control panels, communication racks, radios and aerial systems essential for managing ship-loading activities.

The Location
The control room stands on the Groote Eylandt Wharf, a harsh coastal setting subject to extreme environmental conditions including high wind and salt exposure.
It replaces the facility damaged during Cyclone Megan in 2024.
The Solution
The building was engineered to withstand extreme environmental conditions, including high wind and salt exposure, ensuring long-term resilience in the harsh coastal setting.
Double-glazed windows and a cool room-grade door optimise thermal and acoustic insulation, reducing energy consumption and maintaining a comfortable environment for operators. A kitchenette and ergonomic layouts support operational needs and staff productivity.
Precision engineering and rigorous quality assurance measures were implemented throughout, ensuring compliance with industry standards and operational reliability.
